Recommendation

Adopt the resolution.

Fiscal Impact

If awarded, the grant would fund 100% of costs and requires no local match.

Background

The (JAG) program is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to units of local government. The awards are based on a statutory formula. The funds may be used to hire additional personnel and/or purchase equipment, supplies, contractual support, training, technical assistance and information systems for criminal justice. Criminal justice is defined as “activities pertaining to crime prevention, prevention or reduction, or the enforcement of the criminal law. The formula granted the Village of Oak Park $13,677 in JAG funds, and the program will be administered through the City of Chicago

There is no local match requirement.
