Overview

Overview

This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is between the Village of Oak Park and the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council and Patrol Officers to implement an alternative work schedule in 2023.  This agreement allows the Village and the Union to agree to an alternate work schedule than what is described in the collective bargaining agreement for a one-year period.  The Village and the Union typically create these arrangements annually outside of contract negotiations.

Body

Staff Recommendation

Approve the Resolution.

Fiscal Impact

This item is not directly related to additional funding.  This is specific to work hours.

Background

In the past the Village has entered into similar agreements when the Union and Village wish to experiment with alternate work schedules aside from the contract terms.   Last year the Union and the Village agreed to a 10-hour work schedule.  This is a continuation of that agreement .

Alternatives

The Village Board could seek additional information, however the timing of this agreement is critical in that there are other operational matters, such as the planning for days-off (i.e. vacations) that need to follow this agreement during the fall prior to implementation on January 1, 2023.
