Prior Board Action

Background

On November 5, 2024, voters in the Village of Oak Park approved a resident petition-initiated referendum directing that certain elected officials be elected by ranked-choice voting. The ability of the Village and Cook County, as the local election authority, to implement ranked choice voting has been questioned. The Village is supportive of efforts to clarify the Village’s authority to implement ranked choice voting for elected Village offices.
