Background
Mojo seeks the creation of a D-17 liquor license classification which would allow work lounges to serve alcoholic liquors on the first floor of a work lounge. A work lounge, including the first floor use, must be a minimum of 2,500 square feet. No bar will be permitted and the service of alcoholic liquors will be through a computerized beverage dispensing system. The system will dispinese beer in no more than thirteen (13) ounce servings, wine in more than six (6) ounce servings and spirites in no more than 1.5 ounce servings. Prepackaged snacks are required to be provided and patrons may provide and consume their own food as well. No person under the age of twenty-one (21) will be permitted in the licensed premises without an adult or legal guardian over the age of twenty-one (21). The hours of operation for a licensee will be same as for B-1, B-2, B-3 and B-4 restaurant licensees as set forth in Section 3-5-7(A) of the Village Code.
At its November 27, 2018 meeting, the Liquor Control Review Board (“LCRB”) recommended adoption of the new classification by a vote of four (4) in favor and one (1) against. The LCRB also determined that Moho met all of the applicable proposed requirements for the issuance of a D-17 license and recommended by a vote of four (4) in favor and one (1) against that the license be issued by the Local Liquor Control Commissioner. Prior to the issuance of the license, the Village Code must also be amended to include Mojo as a D-17 licensee.
