Overview
Competitive bids were opened on July 11th for Project 24-2, Resurfacing of Various Streets. Twelve contractors picked up bid documents and six bids were received. The low responsible bid was submitted by R.W. Dunteman Company in an amount of $2,678,775. The project includes the resurfacing or reconstruction of 17 blocks of local streets in the Village, sewer spot repairs, neighborhood greenway bicycle improvements, traffic calming, and pedestrian safety improvements at various locations.

Background
The 2024 Resurfacing of Various Streets project includes the resurfacing of 17 blocks throughout the Village along with sewer spot repairs and storm drain improvements at locations being resurfaced. A project location map is attached. The project also includes neighborhood greenway improvements on Kenilworth Avenue from Madison to Chicago Avenue, Erie Street from Marion to Forest, and Elizabeth Court from Forest to Kenilworth, as most of these blocks are being resurfaced. The Transportation Commission reviewed the proposed neighborhood greenway bike improvements and associated traffic calming at their June 10th meeting. Traffic calming and safety improvements will be incorporated into the project at multiple corners to improve pedestrian safety at crossings.
The Village received six bids for the project with the low bid from R.W. Dunteman Company in the amount of $2,678,775. Construction work is planned to start in early August with work focused near school locations. The project is scheduled to for completion in November of this year.

There are available funds in the FY24 Budget as shown below to fund the contract amount of $2,678,775.

Citizen Advisory Commission Action
The Transportation Commission provided comments and approved the Neighborhood Greenway bicycle and safety improvements for this project at their June 10, 2024 meeting.
The traffic calming and pedestrian safety improvements at the Garfield and Home intersection included in this project were approved by the Transportation Commission at its March 11, 2024, and May 6, 2024 meetings.
