Overview
Overview
Lake Street Brewing, LLC (“Lake Street”) seeks the issuance of a Brewpub Class D-14 for the property located at 1 Lake Street.
Body
Staff Recommendation
Adopt the Ordinance.
Fiscal Impact
Potential increase in alcoholic liquor dealer’s tax.
Background
Lake Street seeks the issuance of a Brewpub Class D-14 liquor license for the property located at 1 Lake Street. The D-14 classification allows for the following: (1) the manufacture and storage of beer at the licensed premises; (2) the retail sale of the beer in refillable containers not to exceed 64 ounces; (3) the sale of the beer to distributors; and (4) the retail sale of alcoholic liquors at tables in a restaurant and lounge area that provides food service. If Lake Street is granted the license, it plans to provide these facilities and sales. Hamburger Mary’s/Oak Park Brewing Co. located at 155 S. Oak Park Avenue is currently the Village’s only D-14 licensee.
At its meeting of August 22, 2017, the Liquor Control Review Board (“LCRB”) found that Lake Street met all of the applicable requirements for the issuance of a D-14 license and voted to unanimously recommend that the license be issued by the Local Liquor Control Commissioner. Prior to the issuance of the license, the Village Code must be amended to include Lake Street as a D-14 licensee.
