The applicant, DISH Wireless, proposes to attach wireless telecommunications antennas atop 715 Lake Street. The subject building holds numerous other telecommunication antennas installed by other telecommunications firms.

Background

The property located at 715 Lake Street is within the DT-2 Downtown Zoning District. The property is improved with the Medical Arts Building. The building currently has wireless facilities on the rooftop. DISH Wireless proposes to install three (3) antennas, six (6) radios, and associated cabling on three (3) antenna sectors throughout the rooftop. DISH Wireless proposes to install two (2) wireless antennas at a centerline height of 106.5 feet and one (1) wireless antenna at a centerline height of 95.5 feet on a 84.7-foot (119.5-foot-overall) building. Additionally, two (2) remote radio units (RRUs) will be installed adjacent to the proposed wireless antennas. Associated equipment will be located in the proposed equipment cabinet on the rooftop of the existing commercial building. The site is a multistory mixed-use retail building. There is no proposed ground disturbance. The antennas will be licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Citizen Advisory Commission Action

The Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing on June 5, 2024. No one testified in opposition to the requested special use permit. The Zoning Board of Appeals recommends approval and ratified their findings of fact by a 4-0 vote in support.
