Introduction
overview
This is an annual agenda item required by the Illinois Open Meetings Act in which notice of all regularly scheduled meetings must be provided annually at the beginning of the calendar or fiscal year, noting the anticipated regular meeting dates, times and places. The proposed calendar also notes holidays or observances in which Village Hall is closed. The calendar also notes holidays or observations for which Village Hall is open for business, but evening meetings are prohibited.

The Board has taken the following prior action(s):
• Every December, the Village Board adopts the anticipated annual meeting calendar.
Background
This is an annual agenda item required by the Open Meetings Act in which notice of all regularly scheduled meetings must be provided annually at the beginning of the calendar or fiscal year, noting the anticipated regular meeting dates, times, and places. In addition to this calendar, all meetings of the Village Board must have an agenda posted 48 hours before the start of the meeting.
In the event the Village needs to alter one of the regular meetings noted in this calendar, the Village follows the Illinois Open Meetings Act and properly posts a meeting cancellation with the Village Clerk’s Office. Any new meetings added but not shown on this meeting are added with 48 hours' notice and called special meetings.
Special meetings and Village Board committee meetings are not shown and are posted at least 48 hours in advance of such a meeting.
Timing Considerations
Pursuant the Illinois Open Meetings Act, the Village Board should adopt this meeting calendar at the beginning of the calendar or fiscal year.

Advantages:
• This action ensures the Village complies with the Illinois Open Meetings Act.

• There are no disadvantages to this action.
Alternatives
Alternative 1:
The Village Board can delay action and seek additional information.
• If there is a question about the planning of the Village Board’s calendar, it is best to delay action and seek clarification to communicate clearly with the public.
Disadvantages:
• The Village Board will need to bring this meeting back at the next meeting to comply with the Illinois Open Meetings Act.
Anticipated Future Actions
Throughout the year, meetings can be added or removed following the steps required in the Illinois Open Meetings Act.
