Background

The Engineering Division requested a proposal from Edwin Hancock Engineering to provide professional engineering services for the design of the 2025 alley improvement project including any environmental investigations needed. Edwin Hancock has previously completed design engineering for similar alley projects in the Village. Edwin Hancock is one of the four engineering consulting firms with a Master Agreement approved by the Village Board for doing projects via a task order procurement process.

The proposed design work includes designing approximately 19 alley segments for construction in 2025.  In order to bid the project in late winter and get competitive pricing for construction, the design work needs to start in the late summer.

Fiscal Impact

There is $253,000 available for this work in the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget in the Capital Improvement Fund, Public Works - Engineering, Alley Improvements account no. 3095-43780-101-570964.
