Regular Village Board meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m., the first three Tuesdays of each month in Council Chambers of Village Hall (room 201), 123 Madison St. When a Regular Meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting typically is held the following night. The Village Board also meets in special sessions from time to time. However, dates and times of Special Meetings can vary and may change.

Overview

The Village of Oak Park entered into a Memorandum of Understanding and an Intergovernmental agreement with the Board of Education of Oak Park Elementary School District No. 97 (D97) regarding the vacation of a portion of North Kenilworth Avenue at Chicago Avenue for D97 to expand Holmes School.  The plan commission held the hearing for the vacation.

Background

Since the installation of a cul-de-sac in the 500 block of North Kenilworth, this portion of the North Kenilworth right-of-way has been used as green space and a play area for the abutting elementary school. D97 is seeking vacation of the Village owned right-of-way so that they can expand Holmes School.

The Board may request additionally information regarding this item prior to consideration.

 

Previous Board Action

At their August 7, 2017 meeting, the Village Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Board of Education of Oak Park Elementary School District No. 97 regarding the Kenilworth Avenue street vacation and right of way dedication for a the Kenilworth Avenue cul-de-sac.  On November 28, 2017, the Village Manger signed an Intergovernmental Agreement with Board of Education of Oak Park Elementary School District No. 97 outlining the transfer of properties and disposition of public utilities.
