Overview
This ordinance increases the fine amount for various code violations related to parking tickets. Specifically, this proposed ordinance increases the fine amount by category from $20 to $30, $30 to $40 and $50 to $75. These increases are effective July 1, 2016.

As this item is for its first reading, no action is required at this time.
Fiscal Impact
Staff projects the proposed increase will generate an additional $350,000 annually.
Background
While reviewing the draft FY 2016 Recommended Budget, this proposed fee was reviewed with the Finance Committee as well as in Study Sessions with the Village Board.
Below is a listing of tickets that will increase from $20 to $30:
Parking meter violation, on street or off
Failure to set meter
Limited parking time violation
Below is a listing of tickets that will increase from $30 to $40:
Parking on private property without owner’s consent
Parking within 15’ of fire hydrant
Parking under viaduct
Double parking
Parking at an intersection or crosswalk
Parking in a loading, bus or cab zone
Parking in violation of the emergency snow ban
Parking without a Village permit when required
Parking in violation of prohibited or restricted parking
Parking in violation of alternate side prohibition

Fine for failure to purchase and display a Village vehicle license
