Fiscal Impact

In the Fiscal Year 2021 Capital Improvement Fund, there is $60,000.00 for maintenance and repair of brick streets and alleys in account no., 3095-43780-101-570951.

The lowest responsible bid was submitted by MYS, Incorporated for $56,997.00.  It is requested to authorize the entire budget amount of $60,000.00 in the event additional work is found to be required when work starts.

Background

The Village is responsible for maintaining the brick paver crosswalks along Chicago Ave. The brick paver crosswalks at the Chicago/Harvey and Chicago/Humphrey intersections require replacement.  The brick crosswalks were originally installed in 2006 as part of the Chicago Ave. Streetscape project.  This project was included in the 2021 Capital Improvement Fund.  The project sheet is included for reference.

Competitive bids were opened on May 25, 2021, in response to a call for bids for the Chicago Avenue Crosswalks Rehab Project which was sent out on May 5, 2021.  The call for bids was posted in the Wednesday Journal and on the Village website.  Four contractors were contacted directly.  Two bids were received.

MYS, Incorporated, has done this and other types of work for the Village in the past.  They have provided responsive and quality work.
