This Public Health Nurse position is required to perform communicable disease control activities as required of a certified local health department in Illinois, and to provide back-up for immunization clinics and other nursing needs. This position also works with the Staff Nurse on other health related activities, such as, offering trainings and information sessions with local community partners.

Background
This position is required to perform work required of a certified public health department as it relates to communicable diseases including HIV, STI, H5N1, and Mpox. This position will also serve as a backup to the immunization nurse at clinics to provide safe and effective care. Patrice Steurer has been contracted with the Village of Oak Park since October 2020.

There are no specific timing considerations associated with this item.
Financial Impact
The services provided under the Public Health Nurse Services Agreement are budgeted in the following general fund: 1001.44550.613.530667 (External Support). Even though this position is fully funded by the general fund, the Health Department continues to look for grant opportunities to supplement this work.
Operations Impact
The services provided by the Public Health Nursing Services Agreement are required activities to be conducted by a certified health department.
DEI Impact
Services provided by this agreement are offered to all residents of Oak Park, including those that are underinsured or uninsured, therefore helping to address a barrier to healthcare.
