Overview
Overview
On March 6, 2017 the Village Board approved a resolution in an amount not to exceed $150,000 to allow for the purchase and planting of trees through the Suburban Tree Consortium, an organization the Village has been a member of since 1987. This item proposes an additional $25,000, for a new not to exceed amount of $175,000.00 to allow for the purchase and planting of additional parkway trees.
Body
Staff Recommendation
Approve the Resolution.
Fiscal Impact
The FY 2017 Capital Improvement Fund Budget, account No. 3095-43780-101-570957, Public Works, Tree Replacement, provides funds for the planting of new/replacement trees. The original budget of $200,000.00 was amended on April 17, 2017 to include an additional $45,396.00 in restitution associated with public tree removal for the development located at Lake St. and Euclid Ave.
As of this date, $38,724.84 of unencumbered funds remain available in this budget line item.
It is proposed to spend $25,000.00 on additional tree planting. These funds, if allocated to the STC, can be spent on additional parkway trees.
Background
The 2017 budget provided $200,000.00 for Parkway Tree Planting. $150,000.00 was allocated to the purchase and installation of trees through the Suburban Tree Consortium and $50,000.00 was allocated for tree watering for the 2017 growing season.
Since the awarding of these two contracts the budget has been amended to include an additional $45,396.00 that was collected in restitution associated with public tree removal for the private development at Lake St. and Euclid Ave. The intended use of this revenue is parkway tree replacement.
In order to spend these funds on additional trees with the Suburban Tree Consotrium, the not to exceed amount of $150,000.00 needs to be increased an additional $25,000.00 to a new not to exceed amount of $175,000.00.
