Overview

Overview

This is an agreement between the Village and the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council Representing the Oak Park Police Lieutenants and Sergeants Association to implement an alternative work schedule in 2025. This agreement allows the Village and the Union to agree to an alternate work schedule than what is described in the collective bargaining agreement for a one-year period.  This agreement is for a 12-hour work schedule.

Body

Staff Recommendation

Adopt the Resolution.

Fiscal Impact

This item is not directly related to additional funding.  This is specific to work hours and other related impacts due to changing from an 8-hour schedule to a 12-hour schedule, some of which may have a financial impact but it isn’t the primary purpose of the agreement.

Background

In the past the Village has entered into similar agreements when the Union and Village wish to experiment with alternate work schedules aside from the contract terms.   The current contract is an 8-hour schedule.  The Union has ratified this draft tentative agreement as well.

Alternatives

Due to timing outlined in the Sergeants & Lieutenants alternate work schedule which requires the schedule to be posted by November 1st, the only alternative is to return to the schedule in the collective bargaining agreement if this is not approved by the Village Board.

Previous Board Action

In the past the Village has entered into similar agreements when the Union and Village wish to evaluate alternate work schedules.
