Overview

Overview

The existing carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide sensors at the Public Works Center (PWC) are original to the building’s construction in 2007 and have reached the end of their useful service life. These sensors work in conjunction with the Building Automation System to continuously monitor air quality and adjust fan speed based on conditions. These sensors were identified for replacement as part of the Fiscal Year 2024 Capital Improvement Budget. Village staff solicited a proposal from Siemens Industry, Inc. as they are the sole proprietors for maintenance and repairs to the Public Works Center’s Building Automation System.

Adopt the Resolution.

Background

The duct and room-mounted carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide sensors at the Public Works Center work in conjunction with the Building Automation System to continuously monitor air quality and adjust fan speeds based on ambient conditions. Due to the unique configuration of the PWC including an underground garage, these sensors ensure healthy work environments for frontline professionals and management staff that work within and above these spaces.

The scope of work for this project includes the replacement of five (5) duct carbon dioxide sensors, thirteen (13) room carbon dioxide sensors, and sixteen (16) carbon monoxide sensors. In addition to the replacement of these sensors, Siemens will also perform point-to-point integration on all new sensors and provide labor for programming, setup, and configuration.

These sensors were identified for replacement as part of the Fiscal Year 2024 Capital Improvement Budget. Village staff solicited a proposal from Siemens Industry, Inc. as they are a sole proprietor for maintenance and repairs to the Public Works Center’s Building Automation System.

Fiscal Impact

As part of the approved Fiscal Year 2024 budget, $100,000 was included in the Building Improvement Fund, 3012-43790-101-540673, for PW Center Building Automation System balancing. These replacement sensors are part of that ongoing process.

DEI Impact

This project is in alignment with Village Board Goal #2 Community Health & Safety, Priority 6: Ensure Healthy Work Environments for Village Workers.
