The Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing on an application submitted by Kizzie and Carlo Harris seeking a special use permit pursuant to Section 8.3 (Table 8-1: Use Matrix) of the Oak Park Zoning Ordinance, to authorize a day care facility located in a NC Neighborhood Commercial Zoning District.

Background

Kizzie and Carlo Harris are the owners of Little Sprouts Kids, LLC.  The Harris’s propose to lease the Subject Property at 266 Lake Street to operate a day care facility. The tenant space is approximately 1,250 square feet and would be used to serve children approximately six-weeks to four years of age. The proposed number of students for the tenant spaces will be approximately 14 kids. The facility will have three teachers and a Director. Little Sprouts Kids’ business hours would be from 7:30am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

The Village Board can accept the recommendation as presented, deny the application, or approve the application with modifications.

Citizen Advisory Commission Action

The Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing on October 29, 2020. One letter in support of the request was read into the record and Ms. Linda Dzugan testified in support of the request. No one testified in opposition to the requested special use permit. The Zoning Board of Appeals ratified their findings of fact by a 5-0 vote on October 29, 2020.
