Staff Recommendation

Fiscal Impact

There are currently $172,432 of available unicumbered funds in the 2017 Capital Improvement Fund, Public Works - Engineering, for Alley Improvements account no. 3095-43780-101-570964 to cover this work. The change order amounts to an increase of $8,216.00.

Background

Construction delays of the private Oasis development at 1025 Randolph St last year was causing hardships to the adjacent residents as the alley to be reconstructed by the developer was almost unpassable during construction of the development. Hardships included equipment blocking access into their garages, and poor maintenance during construction resulting in mud the length of the alley.

Hancock Engineering was in the Village managing the 2016 Oak Park alley improvements project and was hired to re-design and manage this work.  Edwin Hancock Engineering has successfully designed and managed the 2015 and 2016 CIP Alley Improvements project, and is currently managing the 2017 CIP Alley Improvements project.
