Overview

Overview

Trustees Tucker and Button have requested that staff prepare and present an Inclusionary Housing ordinance for review by the Village Board at an upcoming meeting.

Body

Staff Recommendation

N/A

Fiscal Impact

The fiscal impact of an Inclusionary Housing ordinance will be presented as part of the draft Ordinance.

Background

At the September 25, 2017 Special Meeting of the Village Board staff presented an overview of the affordable housing activities of the Village and discussed the Affordable Housing Funds. Staff also presented an overview of alternatives for continued funding of the Affordable Housing Funds. One alternative presented was adoption of an Inclusionary Housing ordinance.  At the time, there was no direction from the Village specifically about next steps for an ordinance regarding inclusionary zoning.

Alternatives

The Board could refer this matter to the Plan Commission for inclusion in Zoning Ordinance however staff recommends that this be a stand alone ordinance, not in the Zoning Ordinance.
