Recommendation
Recommendation
Adopt the Resolution.
Background
The adjudication law judges as a group will preside over in excess of 6,000 cases in 2023. The judges currently all meet State law requirements for their positions. Administrative law judges have served the Village for almost two decades.
Last year, the Adjudication Department provided training on implicit bias and restorative justice for the judges. In addition, as licensed attorneys, they have completed implicit bias training as mandated by the Illinois Supreme Court.
Fiscal Impact
The hourly fee for the administrative law judges is $86.52. This rate is consistent with the rates in many other suburban communities whose hourly rates range from $65.00 to $125.00. The fiscal year 2023 budget is $147,800.00 for external support.
DEI Impact
The Adjudicators have or will receive both civility and restorative justice training.
