Overview
The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS) are accepting applications for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) grant funding as a result of the DR 4728/4749- Declarations. For this Notice of Funding Opportunity, IEMA-OHS is prioritizing mitigation projects that enhance adaptation to climate change and the development of an effective response to climate change and that address inequities to provide the greatest amount of support to communities in Illinois. Village staff request to submit a grant application for the South Pumping Station Generator Project.

Background
In March 2024, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS) began accepting pre-applications for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) grant funding available as a result of the DR 4728/4749-Declarations. Seema Wadia of Metro Strategies assisted Village staff in preparing and submitting a pre-application for the South Pumping Station Generator Project.

The South Pumping Station pumps over 25% of the Village's daily water demand, predominantly serving the population in the southern third and western part of the mid-section of the Village. The South Station is frequently affected by power bumps and outages caused by severe weather, in turn disrupting access to clean water for residents, schools, and hospitals.
