This proclamation affirms the Village of Oak Park’s recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, observed nationally from September 15 to October 15, as a time to honor the rich histories, cultures, and lived experiences of Hispanic, Latino, and Latinx communities. It acknowledges the resilience and contributions of these communities - shaped through centuries of migration, resistance, and cultural expression - and their vital role in strengthening the fabric of Oak Park. The Village’s ¡Viva! Festival on October 10 reflects a commitment to celebrating Hispanic culture in its full authenticity, centering the voices, traditions, and creativity of the people themselves.
