Background

On April 2, 2021, the Village of Oak Park Police Department submitted a request for proposals from qualified firms that wished to manage and administer a program for towing services. Two companies submitted proposals. The two agencies were (1) Area Towing, Inc., 1401 N. 1st Avenue, Melrose Park, IL, and (2) O’Hare Towing Inc., 2700 Division St., Melrose Park, IL.

O’Hare Towing has previously provided towing services to the Village. The Police Department solicited feedback from staff regarding O’Hare’s performance as it related to customer service and satisfaction. O’Hare Towing received a favorable rating from operations personnel.

Fiscal Impact

By designating them our vendor, they are the tow firm the Village calls when a Vehicle needs to be impounded. In some cases, the Vehicle Owner will reimburse the Village for towing fees. The Village can incur incidental costs as defined in the Contract for various services. Funds are appropriated in 1001.42400.101.550697.
