Background
The Village Board discussed amending the Village Code during its meeting regarding Village Board Protocols on September 14, 2023. At that meeting, the Board reached consensus to increase the Village Manager’s authority to execute contracts and settlements up to $50,000.00 from the current $25,000.00 without having to be presented to the Village Board. This authority matches the authority in several other municipalities of similar size of the Village. The Ordinance amends Section 2-4-13 and Section 2-6-10 of the Village Code to increase the Manager’s authority per this direction. The amendments will potentially decrease the amount of agenda items for the Village Board and save staff time.
