Additional Information

National Community Development Week highlights the impact of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, a federal initiative that provides critical funding to local governments to support housing, public services, and economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income residents.

Since its inception in 1974, the CDBG Program has enabled communities like Oak Park to invest in essential services, including mental health support, food access, job training, and housing stability, as well as infrastructure improvements such as sidewalks, streets, and lead service line replacements. Over the past five years, Oak Park has received more than $7.9 million in CDBG funding to support these efforts.

Recognizing this week underscores the Village’s commitment to equitable investment, neighborhood stability, and ensuring all residents have access to safe housing, supportive services, and opportunities to thrive.
