Background
Betty's Pizza and Pasta seeks the issuance of a Restaurant Class B-4 liquor license for the property located at 1103 South Boulevard. Betty's Pizza and Pasta will be a restaurant serving family style pizza and pasta specializing in New York and Tavern style pies and will share a kitchen with the adjacent restaurant to be known as The Grove. The Grove and Betty's Pizza and Pasta will be both be operated by the same ownership, Kettlestrings Kitchen & Tap, Inc. ("Kettlestrings"). Kettlestrings currently operates Kettlestrings Tavern at 800 S. Oak Park Avenue, which has been in operation since March 2020.
At its special meeting of September 9, 2021, the Liquor Control Review Board ("LCRB") found that Betty's Pizza and Pasta met all of the applicable requirements for the issuance of a B-4 license and voted to unanimously recommend that the license be issued. Prior to the issuance of the license, the Village Code must be amended to include Betty's Pizza and Pasta as a B-4 licensee.
