Overview
Overview
Pursuant to the Village Code, businesses have to renew their licenses annually. Staff reviewed the current fee schedule and proposes to increase all business license fees by 3%.
End

Recommendation
Recommendation
Approve the Ordinance.

Background
Oak Park businesses are required to renew their business license annually and pay a fee based on the operation of the establishment. These fees have been at a fixed amount since the chapter of the code was created. In 2015, the Village Code was amended to include donation boxes, and in 2018 the Village Code was amended to include "Massage Establishments and Massage Services". Village Staff discussed the proposed business license fee adjustment at a Business Association Council during the October meeting.

Village Staff will analyze business license fees on an annual basis and make recommendations to the Village Board on equitable changes to simplify the business license fee schedule.

Fiscal Impact
Fees reflect a 3% increase to all business licenses.

DEI Impact
The consistent fee increase to the entire schedule impacts all license holders at the same 3% increase.

Alternatives
The Village Board can direct staff to continue with the current business licensing fee schedule, with no additional changes.

The Village Board can direct staff to change the percent adjustment.

Previous Board Action
