Background

The proposed ordinance was presented to the Liquor Control Review Board (“LCRB”) at the LCRB’s August 25, 2022, special meeting at the request of Urban Markets of Oak Park, Inc., DBA Carnival Grocery (“Carnival”).  Carnival is one of eleven of the Village’s Class C-1 liquor licensees and it is located at 824 South Oak Park Avenue.  Carnival seeks authorization to hold tasting or sampling events at its premises during business hours and the ordinance will be for tasting or sampling events by all C-1 liquor license holders.  At its October 27, 2022, special meeting, the LCRB unanimously voted to recommend that the ordinance be adopted by the Village Board.
