Regular Village Board meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m., the first three Tuesdays of each month in Council Chambers of Village Hall (room 201), 123 Madison St. When a Regular Meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting typically is held the following night. The Village Board also meets in special sessions from time to time. However, dates and times of Special Meetings can vary and may change.

Overview
In support of Article 28 of Chapter 2 of the Village Code, the Village uses an independent service provider who specializes in public safety recruitment to conduct standardized testing to assist the Village in the establishment of entry level police and fire eligibility lists for filling sworn vacancies as well promotional eligibility lists.

Fiscal Impact
The FY21 budget provides funds for professional services for police and fire testing. General ledger account 1001-41080-131-530667 (External Support) has a total of $74,000 budgeted in FY2021.

The cost cost for the entry-level Police Officer recruitment (140 estimated candidates): $2,800.00.

The cost for the Police promotional process (30 estimated candidates): $28,095.00

Additional Expenses: $15,000 in psychological assessments (30 estimated candidates)

Total Cost = $45,895.00

Background
Eligibility and Promotional lists are required for the hiring and promotion of certain Sworn Staff in the Police and Fire Departments. As of meeting date, the current status of eligibility and promotional lists in the Village is as follows:

Police Entry Level: Expires January 2020. Staff is requesting the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners grant a one-year extension to the current list, resulting in a January 2021 expiration date. Anticipate testing in Nov/Dec 2021.

Police Sergeants: No Active List. Sergeants Promotional List was promulgated in February of 2020. The list was exhausted in May of 2020. Anticipate testing in Feb 2021.

Firefighter/Paramedic Entry Level: January 2022.
