Overview
This position is a contract nurse that supports the Village's one full-time staff nurse position. This position completes required reporting on communicable disease control activities as required of a certified local health department in Illinois, and provides back-up for immunization clinics. This position also works with the staff nurse on other health-related activities, such as training, and information sessions with our local community partners.

Adopt the resolution in order for the nursing department to continue to function at the current level of service.
Background
This position is required to perform work required of a certified public health department as it relates to communicable diseases including HIV, STI, H5N1, and Mpox. This position will also serve as a backup to the immunization nurse at clinics to provide safe and effective care. Patrice Steurer is currently contracted with the Village through December 31, 2024, as a full-time contractor and has been contracted with the Village of Oak Park since October 2020.
Fiscal Impact
The services provided under the Public Health Nursing Services Agreement are budgeted in the General Revenue Fund 613(Community Health/Nursing) External Support (1001.44550.613.530667). Even though this position is fully funded by the general fund, the Health Department continues to look for grant money to supplement this work.
