Recommended Action

Background
The Illinois National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program is a federally funded initiative administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation to support the deployment of publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The program is intended to expand access to reliable EV charging, reduce range anxiety, and support the transition to cleaner transportation options.
Under the NEVI Program, eligible projects may receive reimbursement of up to 80 percent of allowable project costs, with the remaining 20 percent funded through non-federal sources. Funding is provided on a reimbursement basis following project completion and compliance with program requirements.
Staff has identified three Village-owned parking facilities as potential host sites for EV charging infrastructure that would meet the program's eligibility criteria and align with the Village's mobility, sustainability, and climate goals. At this stage, Village staff is seeking authorization solely to submit a grant application for four EV charging stations.
