Overview

Overview

The Village Board’s Protocols as adopted on October 7, 2019 pursuant to Resolution Number 19-310 provides that in an emergency, the Village Manager and/or Communications Director will work directly with the Village President/Mayor or President Pro-Tem (who is selected on seniority and availability) if it is necessary for an elected official to serve as the spokesperson for the Village Board.  This ordinance is recommended to codify this Board protocol pursuant to Section 6 of the Emergency Interim Executive Succession Act, 5 ILCS 275/6.

Body

Staff Recommendation

Approve the Ordinance.

Fiscal Impact

None.

Background

In the event the Village President/Mayor is not available, staff is seeking an ordinance to reflect the current practice related to the role of Mayor Pro Tem as identified in the Village Board’s Protocols, which were most recently updated and adopted on October 7, 2019.  The protocols provide for staff to work with the most senior trustee in the event the Village President/Mayor cannot be reached during an emergency.
