Overview

This Ordinance proposed to increase the fees charged for refuse collection, disposal and recycling.  These services are provided by Waste Management to owners of residential property containing one to five units.  These new rates reflect a three and one-half (3.5%) percent increaser to ensure adqueate revenue is available for contractual expenses.

Staff projects the proposed increase will generate an additional $ 120,000 annually.

 

Background

These proposed fees were reviewed at a Finance Committee meeting and a Study Session of the Village Board.   These proposed fees along with several other recommendations were reviewed as part of the annual budget process.

Previous Board Action

Fees for refuse collection were last increased at the Village Board meeting on December 8, 2014.  At that time, rates were increased by $1.50, per month for each 64 gallon cart and $2.50 for each 96 gallon cart.  All revenue generated by this increase is dedicated to be used to offset the debt service costs associated with alley improvements throughout the community.
