Background
Currently, the Village does not have a Class D-19 Arts and Crafts Establishment liquor license classification. The Class D-19 classification will benefit from the popular Paint & Sip parties occurring in other municipalities. Certain Arts and Crafts Establishments include arts such as painting, pottery, ceramics, candle making, jewelry making, woodworking, or craft design/construction projects.
The proposed ordinance would permit a licensee to offer for sale beer, wine, and champagne for onsite consumption with food by persons at least twenty-one (21) years of age. At least fifty percent (50%) of the business's floor-space shall be exclusively devoted to craft making activities. A Class D-19 licensee must have a minimum of 600 square feet of space under roof. Beer, wine, and champagne service shall be limited to patrons participating in craft making activities and shall terminate at the conclusion of each craft making activity. A license holder shall not sell or permit to be sold or given away, any beer, wine, or champagne, for consumption on-premises, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. Monday through Sunday.
