Regular Village Board meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m., the first three Tuesdays of each month in Council Chambers of Village Hall (room 201), 123 Madison St. When a Regular Meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting typically is held the following night. The Village Board also meets in special sessions from time to time. However, dates and times of Special Meetings can vary and may change.

Overview
The Village of Oak Park Personnel Manual includes personnel policies that set expectations for employee and management responsibilities, ensure employees are treated in a consistent manner, inform employees of their rights and benefits, and comply with State and Federal rules and regulations. Staff regularly reviews the Personnel Manual and make periodic updates to ensure the Village compiles with applicable laws and that the policy manual is consistent with the Village's authorized budget. Staff have made recommendations to the Village's Leaves of Absences policy to revise the Military Leave provisions in compliance with state and federal law.

Background
Staff regularly reviews the Personnel Manual and makes periodic updates to ensure compliance with applicable laws. While coordinating with an employee in the Spring of 2023 staff noticed inconsistent and unclear language related to the Military Leaves provisions and sought additional legal guidance regarding the language. Staff reviewed examples of other local government military leave policies and updated the Village's policy to reflect clear and concise language that clarifies military leave purpose and intent, nondiscrimination, employee and management responsibilities, definitions and policies and procedures. Specifically, staff worked to clarify compensation as it relates to concurrent and differential pay for which service members may be eligible, and ensure the policy lays out a clear and consistent process for employees and management.
