Background
This item is in conjunction with the agenda item for the Village Board to adopt the newly developed Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP). Previously, the Forestry Division's actions were guided by the Arboricultural Specifications and Standards of Practice for the Village of Oak Park (Arboricultural Specifications). Changes to the Arboricultural Specifications require Village Board approval and it is referenced throughout Chapter 25 of the Village Code. Staff proposes the UFMP be added as a definition to Chapter 25 of the Village Code. Additionally, the UFMP will replace any reference to the Arboricultural Specifications throughout Chapter 25 of the Village Code. The arboricultural specifications definition would be deleted from Chapter 25. In addition, some other minor changes and obsolete sections and headings have been identified and modified.
