Background
Each year, the Village must prepare an Action Plan to receive Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD"). The purpose of the CDBG Program is to meet the needs of primarily low-and moderate-income persons. The Action Plan describes Village funding allocations for Program Year 2026 ("PY 2026"), which begins October 1, 2026. The Village will receive $1,576,219 in CDBG funding for PY 2026.
The Community Development Citizen Advisory Commission (CDCAC) reviewed PY 2026 applications, held two public meetings, and recommends specific funding allocations for numerous non-profit agencies that will carry out CDBG Public Services. These recommendations became part of the draft PY2026 Action Plan, which includes Village-operated projects, Public Works Infrastructure, Neighborhood Services housing programs, and administration.
Timing Considerations
The Village is required to submit the final PY 2026 Annual Action Plan to HUD by August 16 or risk not receiving funding for PY2026.
