Background

The Illinois Compiled State Statutes requires the approval (publication) of municipal zoning maps by March 31st of each year, provided map changes were made.  The Village of Oak Park Village Board is required to consider for approval a map showing “the existing uses, divisions, restrictions, regulations and classifications” of property in the Village pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11-13-19, as the official zoning map of the Village.

In 2021, the changes that were made to the Village’s zoning map, resulting in the need for consideration of this proposed resolution, include the following three (3) approved Planned Development applications:  1.) Pete’s Market - Madison Street; 2.) 203 S. Marion Street; and 3.) 7 Van Buren Avenue.

Intergovernmental Cooperation Opportunities

Zoning and land use matters are unique to the Village government within the corporate limits of Oak Park and therefore, intergovernmental cooperation opportunities do not exist.
