Background
License Plate Recognition Systems have been installed at two of the Village's three gated access parking garages. The work included in this agreement will complete the installation of this valuable technology in the third and final parking garage at Lake and Forest (a.k.a. Vantage).
License Plate Recognition assists quarterly permit holders in entering and exiting the garage as the system identifies these users and automatically opens the gate. Additionally, users paying at the pay-on-foot stations will be greeted with an automatically opened gate. This increases efficiency in the garage and allows for quicker entry/exit times.
In 2015 the Village of Oak Park upgraded revenue control equipment for the parking garages. At that time staff stated they would explore additional technology related to licenses plate recognition cameras. In 2017, the License Plate Recognition Systems were installed at the Holley Court and Avenue Parking Garages.
