Recommended Action
Adopt the ordinance.
Prior Board Action
The Board has previously approved ordinances for disposing of vehicles, materials, and equipment as needed.
Background
Following Village policy and State law (65 ILCS 5/11-76-4), the Village may, by Ordinance, authorize the disposition of designated personal property (as opposed to real property) to dispose of equipment no longer usable to the Village.
Items on the attached "Exhibit A" will be disposed of via internet auction, traded in, donated, or consigned. If the items are not sold or donated, they will be disposed of as scrap.
The equipment listed in Exhibit A are candidates for disposal due to end of life and limited usefulness to the department. These items have been in storage for some time, and storage space is in demand for other police operations.
Timing Considerations
Adoption at this time will allow for the timely disposal of surplus items and free up valuable space used to store them.
Budget Impact
Funds received from the sale of equipment will be placed in the fund from which the equipment was purchased.
Operating Impact
Removing surplus items will enable more efficient use of the Village of Oak Park's space.
