Fiscal Impact
The Fire Department seeks authorization to purchase four (4) Lucas cardiopulmonary resuscitation devices and related items to provide a higher level of care for those it serves and an added layer of protection for our paramedic/firefighters. This request is being paid for with FY2020 lost revenues previously approved by the Village Board.

Background
In following with the Fire Department 2022 Work Plan, "Deliver Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in a professional and timely manner", as described in the FY22 Budget document, staff identified several areas to improve on our high professional standards of emergency medical care for residents and visitors.

Staff retrospectively examined the nature of call types requiring immediate Advanced Life Support Paramedic interventions. Cardiac Arrests (or other life-threatening medical events requiring C.P.R.) were immediately identified as an area the Village of Oak Park Fire Department can immediately leverage technology to greatly increase positive outcomes, while simultaneously providing an additional safety measure for employees.
