Regular Village Board meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m., the first three Tuesdays of each month in Council Chambers of Village Hall (room 201), 123 Madison St. When a Regular Meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting typically is held the following night. The Village Board also meets in special sessions from time to time. However, dates and times of Special Meetings can vary and may change.

At the May 12th Transportation Commission (TC) meeting, the TC reviewed a traffic calming petition for the 500 block of S. East Avenue. The TC voted to concur with the staff recommendations to install the recommended traffic calming items for paint and post curb extensions at the East Avenue and Adams Street intersection.

Background
On October 21, 2024, the Village of Oak Park received a petition to implement traffic calming measures on the 500 Block of S East Avenue. The residents expressed concerns regarding excessive speeds, increased traffic volumes, and concerns regarding vehicular and bicycle conflicts along 500 S East Avenue between Adams Street and Madison Street.
Attachment A includes a copy of the letter of explanation. No public testimony was received. Attachment B includes the aerial imagery of the area.
The petition was reviewed by the Transportation Commission at its May 12th, 2025 meeting. Staff gave a presentation on the issues, including: background on the petition, history of the area, analysis of the collected traffic data, collision diagram, and recommendations. Residents provided public testimony on the items. After hearing the staff's presentation and public testimony, the Transportation Commission deliberated on the items. Relevant pages from the Transportation Commission meeting minutes are included as Attachment G.
At the May 12th, 2025 meeting, the Transportation Commission voted five to zero to:
- Install a temporary radar speed feedback sign facing northbound traffic
- Install paint and post curb extensions at all four corners of the S East Avenue and Adams Street intersection, extending onto both streets
