Regular Village Board meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m., the first three Tuesdays of each month in Council Chambers of Village Hall (room 201), 123 Madison St. When a Regular Meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting typically is held the following night. The Village Board also meets in special sessions from time to time. However, dates and times of Special Meetings can vary and may change.

With the Community Design Commission's support, amendments to Chapter 7 ("Buildings"), Article 7 ("Signs") of the Village Code are proposed which, in general, will provide better clarity, strengthen enforcement and provide for more public input.

Background
Staff and the Community Design Commission met on several occasions to discuss amendments to Chapter 7 ("Buildings"), Article 7 ("Signs") of the Village Code, otherwise known as the "Sign Code." The purpose of the proposed amendments is to provide better clarification, improve aesthetics and flexibility. The proposed amendments propose new definitions and clarify existing definitions. The proposed amendments add requirements for a posted notice by an applicant or property owner for an upcoming hearing, while removing the requirement to provide a public notice to when an applicant simply wants to have preliminary discussion with the Community Design Commission regarding a sign design proposal. The amendments expand the type of light sources that cannot be used to outline buildings or building elements. It is recommended to allow limited attention getting devices for special events and for new business openings and added stronger regulations to better manage the temporary usage of attention getting devices.
