Overview
Overview
Due to a reduction in Village staff time because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Health Department has contracted with the Health Inspection Professional, Inc to conduct the Village's required health inspections for restaurants. Under the Village Manager's spending authority, a contract was executed on June 16, 2021, for $25,000. This agenda item would increase the contract amount to a total of $50,000.

Fiscal Impact
This temporary staff support will be paid for with funds from the temporary services budget 1001.41080.101.530658.

Background
The Public Health Department has been without a second licensed Health Inspector from March 31, 2021, to August 6, 2021. However, the new incumbent cannot perform inspections until licensed, projected October 2021. Due to this seven-month delay, the Public Health Department has 74% of its food inspections remaining.

The Village Manager, under her authority, executed an agreement with Health Inspection Professional, Inc to conduct restaurant inspections beginning June 16, 2021. To date, they have performed 121 inspections. The Health Department has 425 remaining inspections for this calendar year. Continuing with this contract will allow for the contractors to complete an additional 208 inspections and the remaining will be conducted by staff. This should allow us to meet the requirements set out by the State of Illinois for Certified Public Health Departments.
