Background
Best standard practice is to replace the computers every 3 years. Many of the Police Department's MDCs are over nine years old, inefficient, at end of life, out of warranty and experiencing increased failures. As part of the IT Strategic Plan, upgrading the Police MDCs over multiple years was identified as a priority project. Staff from the Police and IT departments and the Fleet Services Division of the Public Works department thoroughly reviewed various systems and identified specific equipment that is believed the most cost effective and sustainable option to meet the Village's requirements. Actual equipment and component installation and user testing were conducted to help ensure that it meets the organization's ability to support this project and its successful operations.

Request for quotes for nine Getac computers were posted on www.demandstar.com and the Village received 10 quotes. The lowest, most-qualified proposal was $38,662.30 from CDW Government.

Fiscal Impact
The cost for the nine MDCs is funded in the Equipment Replacement Fund within account # 3029-41300-906-570720 (Computer Equipment).
