Overview
Overview
Staff and the Farmers' Market Commission recommend amending the Farmers' Market ordinance to remove the limitation on the number of meat, poultry and fish vendors.
Body
Staff Recommendation
Approve the ordinance.

Background
The Farmers' Market Manager has determined that adding at least one additional meat, poultry or fish vendor to the market would add value to the market. The current ordinance language prohibits adding more than two (2) permitted meat, poultry or fish vendors per market season. At the April 13, 2016 Farmers' Market Commission meeting, they voted to support removing the ordinance language that limits the permits to two (2) for any one market season. The Health Department reviewed the recommendation and recommends the proposed amendment and does not see any impact to food safety at the market and/or have any significant fiscal impact to the Village.
Removing the limitation will allow the Market Manager the flexibility to add an additional meat, poultry and/or fish vendor to the market. The Farmers' Market Manager has received numerous applications from meat, poultry and/or fish vendors seeking to participate in the 2016 Farmers' Market. If this recommended ordinance amendment is accomplished prior to the 2016 Market starting date of May 21, the Market Manager will have the authority to permit at least one additional meat, poultry and/or fish vendor for the 2016 season.
