Background
Attached is a status report on all of the individual projects completed to date as well as any remaining or future projects. The Village Departments utilize this plan to establish their own priorites and prepare their budgets. In addition, all of the Departments meet regularly to prioritize projects together for the Village as a whole.
It is important to note that the IT Strategic Plan contains many projects identified as requiring “core technology systems”. These are generally the first priority.
Below is a narrative of the status of these core systems.
The Telephone & Cabling project included a system-wide new Voice-Over IP (VoIP) telephone system and data cabling of Village Hall and the Main Fire Station. This project reduced the redundancy of services and reduced the monthly telephone circuit services.
The Geographic Information System & Master Address Database (GIS & MAD) project included joining the GIS Consortium in October 2014, establishing enterprise GIS services, providing GIS data for other core systems and public mapping data. This is an on-going project to map and interface assets and services of various systems to perform enhanced department data analysis.
The Permit, License & Inspection project included the implementation of Village View with the CityView system implementation in May 2016. Initial successes were achieved as more services are available online. Additional work is under way to enhance services and maximize the system.
The WestCom’s 911 CAD/Related RMS project included new dispatch and records software utilized by the 4 communities of Oak Park, River Forest, Elmwood Park and Park Ridge. Work continues to enhance services and maximize the system.
The Police & VH Video and Video & Keycard Security projects are in the phase 2 of selecting a system with an anticipated completion by end of 2016. This project has interdependency with the Telecomm & Cabling system.
The Finance ERP has started with an anticipated completion in 2017.
The Parking Technology project is in the process of selecting an industry consultant to help in selecting a comprehensive systems solution.
The Fiber Network project has been pushed to begin the 3 year project in earnest in 2017.
The Citizen Request Management project will be evaluated in depth in 2017.
The Records Information Management project is slated for 2017 which will be an archival repository for the Finance ERP and CityView systems.
The IT Strategic Plan is reviewed by the Civic Information Systems Commission (CISC) and their feedback is solicited for professional insight.
The Village Departments utilize the plan to establish priorities and appropriate resources.
