Overview
Overview
The Health Department has the option to provide case management services for children identified with a confirmed blood lead level of 10 ?g/deciliter or greater. The Health Department is recommending the Village Board approve this motion to direct staff to apply for the Lead Poisoning with Environmental Investigations FY 2017 grant, with a potential grant revenue of $1449. The term of this grant is July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017.

Fiscal Impact
This grant is a fee for service grant. The Illinois Department of Public Health will reimburse the village at $400.00 per environmental case investigation. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) will also pay the Village $7.00 per blood specimen submitted to the IDPH lab.

Background
The Health Department has provided case management services for children identified with a confirmed blood lead level of 10 ?g/deciliter or greater for 20+ years. The grant application deadline is December 31, 2016.

Case management is completed by the Health Department's Registered Nurse. Environmental investigations are completed by one of two Health Department Sanitarians, both of which are Licensed Lead Assessors through the State of Illinois.

Alternatives
The Village Board can ask for more information and delay the action or, if the Board should choose not to move forward, staff anticipates the IL Department of Public Health or Cook County would manage this grant/cases for Oak Park.
