Agenda Item Title

Title

An Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of Surplus Vehicles, Equipment and Furniture Owned by the Village of Oak Park

End

Overview

Overview

Various departments have vehicles, equipment and furniture that can be sold as surplus.  The vehicles, equipment and furniture will be sold at auction or donated, and if not sold at auction, then they shall be disposed of as scrap.

Body

Staff Recommendation

Approve the Ordinance.

Fiscal Impact

Funds received for vehicles, equipment and furniture will be placed in the fund from which they were purchased originally.

Background

In accordance with Village policy and State law (65 ILCS 5/11-76-4), the Village may, by Ordinance, authorize the disposition of designated personal property (as opposed to real property) in order to dispose of vehicles and materials no longer usable to the Village.  Items on the Attachment will be disposed of via internet auction.  The Village has had recent success using internet auctions for disposal.  If the vehicles, equipment and furniture are not sold at auction they will be disposed of as scrap.

Various office items and exercise equipment that have been replaced, or are no longer functional or usable are also included. Their disposal shall be the same as the Village surplus vehicles.
