Overview
Competitive bids were opened on March 2, 2017, for the Resurfacing of Various Streets Project. Thirteen contractors picked up bid documents and six bids were received. The low responsible bid was submitted by Brothers Asphalt Paving, Inc. in an amount of $1,007,004.83

Fiscal Impact
The costs for project would be funded through the Capital Improvement Fund for Local Street Construction account no. 3095-43780-101-570951 which provides $3,000,000.00 for street resurfacing on local streets, as well as the CDBG account no. 2083-46201-101-583652 which provides $113,759.00 in funds for this project according to the table below.



Background
This project includes the resurfacing of 23 blocks on 13 different streets throughout the Village, as well as upgrading adjacent corners to be in compliance with ADA requirements. The streets included under this contract typically only require patching of curb and gutter, upgrading corners to be in compliance with ADA requirements, and resurfacing the asphalt surface layer.

This contract is the first of two resurfacing contracts planned for construction in 2017. The second contract is tentatively scheduled to be brought forward to the Board for consideration in June.

Alternatives
The alternative to this recommendation could be to delay action to gain additional information.
